Peanut allergy affects about 2% of people in the US and most commonly develops in early childhood. Peanut introduction during infancy has led to decreased prevalence of peanut allergy. Author Elissa Abrams, MD, MPH, of the University of Manitoba joins JAMA Deputy Editor Kristin Walter, MD, MS, to discuss the clinical presentation and methods to diagnose, treat, and decrease the risk of peanut allergy.
