Welcome to our two-episode series: MD3D: Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis — The Role of Primary Care providers in the Growing Epidemic. These episodes have been developed in partnership between American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) and Projects In Knowledge (PIK) Powered By Kaplan and are featured on both AGA’s Inside Scope podcast as well as PIK’s Morning Commute podcast. In episode two, “MASH: How to Treat and When to Refer,” Drs. Arun Sanyal and Mary Rinella take a look at the role that primary care physicians can play in the treatment of MASH, how can they treat and monitor these patients, and most importantly, when should a specialist be called in. Our experts will review current treatment guidelines and care pathways for MASH. They’ll discuss the role of PCPs in the multidisciplinary management of patients with MASH, including the referral of high-risk patients to specialists.
