Episode 279 of the InGoal Radio Podcast, presented by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports, features former long-time NHL goalie Cesare Maniago and fantastic stories about the life of a top-level puck stopper from the 1960s through the early 1980s.

In the feature interview presented by NHL Sense Arena, Maniago shares his experiences backing up Jacques Plante when he first put on a mask in a game -- and how Plante helped him get fitted for one only to have legendary Canadiens coach Toe Blake scare him off using it. Maniago, now 85, talks about learning to play with catalogues taped to his legs, about starting off with Johnny Bower in Toronto, competing against Ed Giacomin and Don Simmons with the New York Rangers, then playing with and getting coached by Gump Worsley in Minnesota. Maniago's can't miss interview is loaded with great stories and anecdotes that resonate today, including how being tall was a problem back then, how equipment changed the way goalies played, and the importance of having a fellow goalie to help you, which led to him becoming one of the NHL's first goalie coaches.

In our Parents Segment, presented by the Stop It Goaltending U app, we dig into the stress that can come with watching our young goalies compete and offer some techniques to help manage it.

We also review this week's Pro Reads, which features Joseph Woll of the Toronto Maple Leafs talking about when to look off the puck, and is presented by Vizual Edge, which is fitting because Woll uses their programs to improve his visual skills.

And in our weekly gear segment, we go to The Hockey Shop Source for Sports to continue our look at the various options for young goalies, with a focus on the CCM EFlex 6.5 line.
