I love the language of ‘go-to girl’, I love the language of ‘It Girl’. I use those words in my own marketing and I have nothing against them because I actually really love them, but I think there's a bit of a misconception around what they actually mean. A lot of people tend to think that they want to be the top dog in their entire industry. I don't want that for you and also it's going to be next to impossible to do that. If you're at the top, you're speaking to everyone. Financially, that could definitely work if you are somehow at that very top spot, but when you are speaking to everyone you are watering down your message. I want you to reframe this and aim to be the it girl and the go-to girl for a specific, small and juicy slice of your industry.
What I cover in this episode:
- Why you don’t want to become an ‘it-girl’ for everybody
- Embracing your unique perspective and expertise
- The balance between personal connection and expertise to build brand authority
- Aiming for clients who are genuinely excited to work with you, and not just choosing you because of price or convenience
