Why Stacking Speakers Is a Bad Idea

Matt and Gene discuss why stacking two speakers on top of each other or even side by side can present an acoustical nightmare of problems. If you've got some extra speakers lying around thinking it's a good idea to do this, think again. We simulate and even measure two speakers vertically stacked to see how it affects the frequency response of the system.

We often hear from exotic cable companies of a synergy between audio cables and the gear they attach to. Is there any truth to it or is it just more snake oil? Are cables really meant to act as tone controls or should they be transparent? I discuss why "cable synergy" if true, is NOT a good thing to inspire for in a cable design and why if a company touts it, you should walk not run from them.
