Did the Gospel writers borrow from the pagan myths to come up with their birth narratives? Some Jesus Mythicists would say so. Was Jesus based on the Roman deity, Mithras? Mithraism, although a contemporary religion of Christianity, was based on the earlier Zoroastrian Mithra and the even earlier Hindu Mitra.
