S4 Ep49: Episode 049 - Christchurch 15 March 2019 part 1

Everyone over the last few years has fallen in love with Adrian Dunbar’s character Ted Hastings in Line of Duty and his tenacity for chasing “bent coppers” The lady that I will be talking about in this episode showed the same commitment when trying to uncover corruption, and that made some people uncomfortable, to the extent that it was the reason that she lost her life. Daphne Caruana Galizia single handedly tried to unearth the corrupt underbelly of the Mediterranean island of Malta. In a case that would not be out of place in a spy thriller someone wanted to silence her for good.

Part 2 of The third case in the crimes of modern times season. Following the attack in Tunis, they believed they had got the mastermind behind it Tourists began returning to the seaside resort of Sousse to enjoy their summer holiday. Catching the sun whilst staring out over the gulf. That was until the man with the parasol started walking along the beach. This final part focuses on that fateful day 26 June 2015.

The third case in the crimes of modern times season. In 2015 Tunisia was at the point of turmoil. The Arab Spring as it was known or the Jasmine Rebellion to give it the official title was in full swing.  The succumbing president had been forced into exile and change was on the horizon. The issue is that there are always groups who want to push it too far.  Part 1 of this case looks at March 2015, when a couple of cruise liners made a stop in La Goulette in Tunis and a bus full of tourists headed for the Bardo museum.

Please bear with me as I am a bit rusty!! Marie had the world at her feet, she was an established French actress, the mother to four amazingly talented children, and was happy living a bohemian lifestyle. She thought that she had found happiness in a new relationship, but as is often the way things turned sour very quickly. This is a case where it is questionable, did the punishment fit the crime.
