George Markoski predicts that if current global and domestic conditions hold, Australia will be in recession within 90 days. In this episode of the Positive Property Show, George and Christina Markoski go through the full data picture behind that call and explain what it means for property investors right now.

Consumer confidence has collapsed. GDP growth is contracting. Inflation is crushing real wages in a way George compares to the boiling frog effect, where the damage happens slowly and people do not notice until it is too late. Australia's fuel stockpiles remain dangerously thin, the country is the third highest dependent on Strait of Hormuz fertiliser, and missing planting season due to supply disruption risks 12 months of food shortages. George believes a Trump-brokered Iran ceasefire is possible but unlikely to hold, and that the more probable outcome is a repeat of the COVID economic playbook: governments print money, cut rates, and property prices surge after a brief dip.

George also makes an unexpected call in this episode: that Sydney and Melbourne are becoming worth buying in again. For the first time in years, George says he would consider adding both cities to his own portfolio.

In this episode:

  • The economic seasons framework: why recessions are winter, why winter always comes, and why the investors who prepare during autumn are the ones who win in spring.
  • Why fear and greed are the two most dangerous emotions for property investors, and how herd mentality amplifies both at exactly the wrong moments.
  • The full data case for a 90-day recession
  • The Elon Musk investing model explained: why the Positive Property strategy of refinancing rather than selling sidesteps CGT entirely.
  • Why buying an investment property now, before governments respond with rate cuts and stimulus, is the move that separates long-term wealth builders from those who wait.
  • Member spotlight: Daryl started buying investment properties in his mid-50s and has built a portfolio of five properties in five years. He is on track to retire from full-time work and receive his freedom sword at the next members event.
