On April 4, 2025, the fourth day of Karen Read's retrial jury selection at Norfolk Superior Court in Dedham, Massachusetts, concluded with ten jurors seated—five men and five women. The day's proceedings were abbreviated, ending earlier than scheduled, as Judge Beverly Cannone dismissed four potential jurors before individual questioning commenced. Notably, one previously selected female juror requested to be excused and was replaced by another woman, maintaining the total at ten jurors.

In a parallel development, Read's defense team petitioned the United States Supreme Court to dismiss two of the three charges against her, including second-degree murder, on the grounds of double jeopardy. They argue that jurors from the initial trial had privately acquitted her of these charges. Despite this appeal, jury selection is set to continue into the following week, with six more jurors needed to complete the panel of sixteen, comprising twelve primary jurors and four alternates.
