State and territory leaders have agreed to strengthen gun laws in the wake of Sunday’s Bondi terror incident, which saw 15 innocent people killed during a targeted antisemitic attack. According to police, a 50-year-old gunman who died at the scene was the licensed owner of multiple firearms. Those guns, weapons he owned lawfully, were used in Sunday’s attack. On Sunday evening, a terror attack unfolded on the shores of Australia’s most recognised beach. Two gunmen fired dozens of bullets at a Jewish community event in Bondi, targeting crowds attending celebrations to mark the beginning of Chanukah. At the time of recording, at least 16 people are dead, including one of the gunmen, and 40 are injured. On Sunday evening, gunmen opened fire at Sydney’s Bondi Beach, where a Jewish community event was being held to mark the beginning of Chanukah. At least 12 people, including one of the alleged shooters, were killed at the scene, and 29 people were taken to hospital. Police are treating it as a terrorist attack.
