Classic Cafe Racers of the 50's and 60's have been an interest of mine since I was gifted a copy of the book Rockers in the 90's. When I bought my first new motorcycle it was a Kawasaki W650, just before the new Hinkley Bonneville's were released, if only I would have waited! I wanted classic British motorcycle looks but modern reliability (this would be my only mode of reliable transportation for a few years). A couple decades and a lot of motorcycles later (some British, but mostly Harley's) I became the proud owner of a survivor barn find 1962 Norton 650ss in full 1960's road racer trim. This is the type of motorcycle I always wanted but never had the opportunity to own. For years I've been involved with Harley's and Harley Culture but I never lost my love for classic non Harley motorcycles. I started In The Weeds podcast to document grass roots chopper culture in the South East of the country. After a few years of doing that I started to feel like I didn't have any more to add to the conversation and realized that there was a huge gap on social media and podcast platforms for classic non Harley motorcycles. Sure, there are plenty of great podcasts out there that talk about them, but not exclusively. I love all motorcycles, but I don't want to talk about the latest ADV bike or flat track racing (there's plenty of people out there that know more than I do already talking about it). So this is the beginning of my journey. Follow along if you like!
