
Architect and urban designer Fred Scharmen joins us this week to talk about Jeff Bezos’ recent Blue Origin space flight, and what it tells us about how billionaires think about space exploration and settlement today. Fred explains how the utopian, collectivist visions of space exploration in the 20th century lost purchase as rich tech guys became more interested in tourism, and how private sector Space projects might also reflect a lack of desire to try to repair the problems currently facing planet Earth.
Of course, we also spend a lot of time trying to figure out what why Katy Perry went to space at all, and whether the Katy Perry who returned is an extra terrestrial doppelgänger
