After a year of soul searching and scrutiny, MSPs have rejected a bill which would allow a medically assisted death for terminally ill people with six months left to live.
Arguments on both sides have been passionate, emotional and often anguished. But how did a majority of MSPs go from supporting the bill last year, to voting it down 10 months later? And will assisted dying ever be made legal in Scotland?
