I just chatted with metamodern philosopher Jason Storm about his new book, The Genealogy of Genealogy: Nietzsche, Foucault, and the Coils of Critical History, in which he subjects postmodern genealogy to its own scrutiny. In the process, genealogy as a method is itself denaturalized and deeply problematized, as Jason unmasks its historical entanglements with oppressive power structures and constructed origins. In doing so, core postmodern strategies are undermined according to their own logic, clearing the field for more constructive metamodern alternatives.
