RAYS POSTCAST: The Tampa Bay Rays mistakes DOOM them in a loss to the Milwaukee Brewers

The Tampa Bay Rays dropped the last game of the series to the Milwaukee Brewers 8-2. It was another fast start for the Rays. In the 3rd inning Yandy Diaz blasted a 2 run home run to give the Rays a 2-0 lead. The Brewers would add a 2 run homer of their own in the bottom of the 3rd to tie the game. Things stayed tied until the 8th inning because of fantastic pitching by Rays starter Drew Rasmussen. He went 5 IP only allowing 2 hits and striking out 8. Things fell apart in the 8th inning. The Tampa Bay Rays drop the second game of the series to the Brewers 6-2. The Rays bats got off to a hot start. For the 2nd straight game the Rays got a solo homer in the first inning. This time it was off the Bat of Jonathan Aranda to make it 1-0. The Rays got another solo home run from Nick Fortes in the 5th inning to make it 2-0. But after that things started to go wrong for the Rays. With the Bases loaded in the bottom of the 5th inning the Brewers hit a 2 RBI single to tie the game. A costly error in the same inning gave the Brewers a 3-2 lead and they would not look back. The Brewers would add 2 runs in the 6th inning, and one in the 8th to make it 6-2 and that would put the game out of reach. Shane McClanahan started for the Rays for the first time in over two years and was solid. He finished with a line of 4.2 IP 2 hits 2 ER and 4 K. The Tampa Bay Rays offense comes through late to propel them to a 3-2 win vs the Milwaukee Brewers. The Rays got the scoring started with the very first batter of the game. Yandy Diaz hit a solo homer to give the Rays an early 1-0 lead. Rays starter Nick Martinez held the Brewers scoreless for the first 5 IP of his outing. He get touched up for a 2 run homer in the 6th which made the game 2-1. But Martinez finished with a strong outing going 6 IP 3 strikeouts and only the 2 runs given up. The Rays immediately tied the game in the top of the 7th on a long home run by Jonny DeLuca. The game remained tied until the top of the 9th inning with 2 outs. After DeLuca worked a fantastic walk, Nick Fortes laced the go ahead double to put the Rays ahead for good. The Tampa Bay Rays pick up their first win of the year, beating the Cardinals 11-7. The Rays offense was on fire early and often. It started with a 3 run 2nd inning capped off by a RBI single by Yandy Diaz. The Rays would add another 3 runs in the 4th inning with 3 RBI doubles by Yandy Diaz, Jonathan Aranda, and Cedric Mullins. The Cardinals would make it interesting with a 3 run homer in the bottom of the 4th to make it 6-4. The Rays bullpen would keep that the score until the 3rd inning. In the top of the 8th inning the Rays had a pair of RBI singles to make it 8-4. Then Cedric Mullins would add a sac fly to make it 9-4. The Cardinals would add 3 runs in the 8th inning to make it 9-7. But a bunt single by Carson Williams and a RBI infield single by Yandy Diaz made it 11-7 and that would be enough to give the Rays the win. The Tampa Bay Rays drop the 2nd game of the series 6-5 to the St. Louis Cardinals. The Rays offense was non existent for the first 8 innings of the game. The Rays would tie the game in a wild 9th inning. It started with a RBI single by Chandler Simpson that made it 4-1. Then it was the Rays standout prospect Carson Williams with a 2 out 2 run single that made it 4-3. Then Nick Fortes continued his hot start to the year with a RBI single with legendary base running by Carson Williams tied the game. On the first pitch of extra inning Yandy Diaz lined a RBI single to give the Rays their first lead of the game.All of the Cardinals runs against Rays starter Joe Boyle came in the first inning. After that Boyle would shut them down. He finished with a line of 6 IP 3 hits 2 runs and 4 strikeouts. The Cardinals would add 2 runs in the 9th to put the Rays for what they thought were insurance runs until the Rays comeback in the 9th. The Cardinals would walk off the Rays on a 2 RBI single in the bottom off the 10th. The Tampa Bay Rays blow a 6 run lead to lose to the St. Louis Cardinals 9-7. The Rays used a 6 run 6th inning to take a commanding 7-1 lead in the game. But the bottom of the 6th was a nightmare for the Rays. It started with Ian Seymour allowing all 5 of the batters he faced to reach base and eventually score. But the go ahead hit game off of a 2 strike fastball by Griffin Jax to Alec Burleson that was deposited 432 feet into the right field seats to give the Cardinals the lead. Jonathan Aranda hit a solo home run that accounted for the Rays other run.
