I started this show in 2020 to study how rich, dead marketers launched without the internet. Five years later, I used P.T. Barnum’s 7-step launch model on a book, and it sold 4,000 copies in the first week.

In this episode, Steve J Larsen shares where the launch research led: Pursuit of Profit Publishing, a book publisher where authors film their book on stage, keep their IP, and get a funnel and sales team built for them.

In this episode:

  • The 2 oldest rules in marketing: whoever runs events captures the market, and whoever writes books controls its thinking
  • How Barnum’s model sold Ryan Lee’s book: 4,000 copies in week one and 25,000 in a year
  • Jenny Lind’s poem contest, and how to make your launch the market’s launch
  • Every launch needs two emotions: anticipation and aggravation
  • If you’re the only voice talking about your launch, it isn’t a launch
  • The “Your Final Offer” hook that got 17,000 registrations
