His past books have included works on, inter alia, Hollywood; Jazz; Boxing; African liberation movements; the Haitian Revolution (translated into French); the Cuban Revolution (translated into Spanish); the Mexican Revolution; Caribbean independence struggles; Brazilian slavery (translated into Portuguese); the Pacific War (translated into Japanese); biographies of Paul Robeson and W.E.B.
