UK video artist Peter Donebauer has enjoyed a rich and varied career, encompassing pioneering video art, work in commercial television, teaching and developing groundbreaking video equipment (The Videokalos Synthesiser).

Here, he discusses his first steps toward moving image art from his early explorations with 16mm film to his first major cycle of video pieces, The Creation Cycle. Wildly original and technologically innovative, Peter Donebauer's work occupies territory quite apart from many of his contemporaries in UK film and video art and are quite hard to classify. Boasting stunning abstract imagery, these are sensory experiences best viewed on a big screen in the dark!
