These three cover topics such as the media distortion of the issue, false narratives, current events, and action the individuals can take towards putting an end to Palestinian opression.

In this episode, Sulphia (fencing) and Amena (lacrosse) are joined by guest Amirah Ahmed (track and field, cross country) to talk about the Muslimah athlete experience! From discussing the struggles of finding suitable, modest athletic wear (spoiler alert: we got a lot to say about the Nike hijab 👀), to telling stories of the awkward situations they’ve had with male coaches, teammates and referees, to encouraging listeners to gain the courage speak with your coach and catch prayers on time during practice hours, to learning how to continue training while fasting during Ramadan, these three cover it all!

In today’s episode, Sulphia and Hanan are joined by Pashmina Khan, a senior in high school who will be majoring in journalism and film at NYU in the fall! Together, they discuss their takes on how Muslims have been portrayed in popular movies, tv shows, books, and the news cycle!

In today’s episode, Amena and Hanan were accompanied by Aronno Shafi, a senior at NYU! She was able to share with us a bunch of things she wish she had done as a high school student, and gave us so many tips on things ranging from interviews to financial management as a young muslimah! Tune in to this episode to learn more about these tips and to hear about Aronno’s art business and other fun experiences, including studying aboard in Europe!

In this episode, Sulphia and Aisha are joined by Sammi and Meena for a discussion often put to the side in the Muslim community: anti-blackness. Part of Growing Up Halal’s mission is to create a safer and open community and the first step is having discussions that are ignored and overlooked. In today’s episode, Aisha, Amena, Hanan, and Sulphia read about and discuss the term “toxic positivity,” which often facilities the societal pressure we experience on social media and at school, and significantly harms self-growth. Reflecting on our own experience with this concept, we talk about how we hope to address toxic positivity going into the new year.
