The U.S. and Israel have attacked Iran and killing some of the Islamic Republic's top leaders, including Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran has responded with attacks on Israel, U.S. bases in the Gulf Region, oil infrastructure and by closing the Strait of Hormuz. There is a long history of Iranian and U.S. relations and this war is another part of it. He lives in the United States and is Professor of Middle East History at California State University, Los Angeles.
