A triple-friction-pendulum base isolation system was inserted beneath the building, effectively decoupling the superstructure from ground motion. Two-hundred-year-old timber beams salvaged from Venetian palazzi are reimagined as the pavilion’s walls, while locally crafted Venetian glass is formed into circular discs that compose the ceiling above.
