For Episode 3 of Conversations on B L I S S Evan Ifekoya is joined by Rambisayi Marufu for a conversation on Reclaiming energy work (and hair!). Rambisayi (Rambi) is a holistic healing practitioner, sister to many and plant mama. Rambi is also a student of visual anthropology with a focus on African Diasporic lived experiences. Through a Black feminist lens Rambi’s multi-modal collaborative research explores Black womxn’s hair as a site of intersecting structures of power that are always gendered and racialised, and it’s potential as a  site of care and healing. She says : Also a student of Black feminist anthropology my practice is grounded in knowing that our individual bodies are bound to each other’s and to structures and systems that dictate the quality of our lives. Our communities cannot be well until we make the space to heal and our healing cannot happen outside of community. Reclaiming energy work feels like an appropriate topic for us to discuss because of our shared belief that we inherit the tools for the work from our Ancestors,  a  commitment to exploring what it means to be of service and dreaming as liberatory practice. For Episode 2 of Conversations on B L I S S Evan Ifekoya is joined by Lateisha Davine Lovelace-Hanson for a conversation on Knowledge - the ancestral, ritual and somatic ways of knowing and being known. Lateisha Davine Lovelace-Hanson is a Multi-disciplinary artist, movement practitioner, story-protector/ writer, creative facilitator, performance maker and socio-cultural systems change educator. Lateisha is guided by the spiritual call to create spaces for healing liberation through creative actions. Mainly Working with groups marginalised and minoritised by oppression, included but not limited to Black folk, Queers, Homeless peoples, refugees and asylum seekers and young people through community organising collectives, social centres, unions, art and education institutions to effect change/ healing / accountability. Justice. Principled by healing justice frameworks to disrupt and dismantle systems of oppression. For our embodied imaginations to be freed, creating space to envision, call in and build a world of connection and (re)belonging. As a Black queer non-binary womxn, child of Jamaican immigrant parents and trauma survivor Lateisha draws upon the power of prophecy and ancestral knowledge. Rooted in Black feminist traditions, environmental justice practices and community-collective care to manifest somatic pathways towards decolonising how we relate to ourselves, each other and the world around us. Lateisha’s work ‘S/He Breathe/S’, an afro futurist interdisciplinary collaborative theatre project supported by Arts Council England and Camden People’s Theatre is currently in development. Ancestral, ritual and somatic knowledge feels like an appropriate topic for us to discuss because of our shared commitment to centering embodied and intuitive wisdom in all that we do. For Episode 1 of Conversations on B L I S S Evan Ifekoya is joined by Hannah Catherine Jones for a conversation on Frequency. Hannah (aka Foxy Moron) is a London-based artist, musician, multi-instrumentalist, researcher, radio presenter (NTS - The Opera Show), composer, conductor and founder of Peckham Chamber Orchestra – a community project established in 2013. Jones’ extremely broad practice is connected by a central spine of inclusivity and “decolonisation”. The ongoing body of work The Oweds are a temporal form of (self-)reparation, a method of connection with ancestry though sonic ritual using combinations of voice, theremin, stringed instruments and visuals, sometimes orchestrated, predominantly improvised. Frequency feels like an appropriate topic for us to discuss because of our shared concern with the healing potential of sound, and how through attunement to certain frequencies we have the potential to heal and transform the body on cellular level.
