While knowledge-doubling (which is the amount of knowledge that humans have access to) has sped up at a head-spinning pace, loneliness, and depression have become an epidemic. 30% of young adults are now being treated for clinical depression, most young adults have less than three close friends, 60% of young adults who have major depressive episodes do not seek treatment, and nearly 40% of the population of the United States experienced profound loneliness yesterday. We “know” more than we ever have, but we are truly known less than we ever have been. The solution isn’t more information about God, and about our condition, but discovering how to be truly known by God, and known by others.
