This episode is a bit of a rant from me, along with some key points I believe will get you thinking.
I believe I have a unique perspective on this topic because of my lifelong profession in the field of strength and conditinioning, as an athlete, former youth physical education teacher and as a youth Coach for my two youngs sons.
Here are some key points:
- Your spot must be earned
- The shift towards 'a trophy for everyone'
- Parents need to teach their children how to communicate with Coaches and expectations and standards
- The dangers of early specialization
- Pro sports are dead, they lack competitive juice
- College sports aren't far behind, which is a product of the youth that grew up with a 'trophy' for everyone, now being allowed to transfer at a moments notice because they don't get to play right away
Ahhh! Let me know if you agree with me or not.
Be Unconventional,
