Erst vor ein paar Jahren wurden die "Odd Radio Circles", also die "Seltsamen Radioringe" in Milliarden Lichtjahren Entfernung entdeckt. Sie haben Millionen Lichtjahre Durchmesser und sind meist nur im Radiobereich sichtbar, während sie im optischen, Infrarot- oder sogar Röntgenbereich unsichtbar bleiben. Woher kommen diese eigenartigen Ringe, wer verursacht sie? Und was können wir noch von ihnen lernen? Es gibt so viele wunderbare Sterne an unserem Nachthimmel - jeder etwas ganz besonderes. Diesmal sehen wir uns das rote Herz des Skorpions genauer an: Antares. Er trägt uns nicht nur durch die Geschichte und Kulturen auf aller Welt, sein Wesen erzählt mal wieder von der Vergänglichkeit der Dinge, vom Werden und Sterben im All. Antares glänzt nicht nur an unserem Himmel, sondern sogar auf einer Nationalflagge. Dort vielleicht für immer, aber am Himmel ist er nur temporär. Auch er liegt, wie Beteigeuze im Orion, im Sterben. Humanity has many homes. Earth. The solar system. But just as well: the Milky Way. It's our very own galaxy, an island of stars within the vast emptiness of space. The sun is only one of 100 billion stars within the Milky Way.  We now know, that in reality, if you could look at it from far away, you'd understand that the Milky Way is a beautiful spiral galaxy. But we can only look from within. And from the vantagepoint of Earth, the Milky Way is a mighty band of stars, that stretches across our night sky, if it's dark enough. We look into one of the spiral arms and what lies beyond. Das Ereignis wurde AT2021lw getauft und erst jetzt wurden die ersten Ergebnisse und Theorien zu seinem Ursprung veröffentlich. Was setzte in knapp 6 Monaten mehr als zehn mal so viel Energie frei, wie die Sonne in ihrer gesamten Lebenszeit von gut 10 Milliarden Jahren?! Humans have pushed the frontiers of exploration in space by sending probes to the edge of our Solar System and beyond. Just how far have we traveled, and what have we seen along the way? How do we keep in touch with the most distant objects, and what is left to learn from these probes?
