  A Mother's Inspirational Message 'ask dorothy' The WISDOM podcast  Season 4  Episode 118   💜 The healing is symbolic. It is also reflective of your future relationship. ~   In Today's Episode: My client and her mother are not so different from other mothers and daughters. As I sit before both of them I feel hopeful. A daughter willing to enter into therapy to work on gaining closeness and understanding with her mother and to overcome the hurt of comments and past wounds that she has carried largely in silence. A mother, not aware her daughter has been carrying shame and self-loathing, and being misunderstood by the same gender parent who is supposed to love you without question. It's likely that my client's mother has also carried the self-effacing weight of shame and self-loathing herself. Stacey's mother has joined her in this session, willing to be part of a process that she has little knowledge of and certainly no idea of where it will lead. What makes my clients' story so interesting is the level of commitment that each woman brings to the therapy session that highlights the value they place on one another – on being a family, on improving the way in which they communicate so that words are not spoken without consideration of the other and with the ultimate hope of healing the past so that there can be a new way to experience this relationship and each another – in a way that they can both trust in.   *Both client names have been changed to maintain confidentiality. ~ If you would like my help for your changing relationship with your Mother, please reach out to me. The NEW Metta Loving Kindness Meditation The WISDOM podcast  Season 4  Episode 115 💜 Increased compassion for ourselves and others, better relationships, and decreased stress and anxiety are just some of the benefits of 'Metta' ~ or *loving-kindness* practice ~   Today's Episode:   This Loving Kindness Meditation is an Ancient Buddhist practice that cultivates goodwill and universal friendliness toward oneself and others. To be healed is more that possible. ~ In Today's Episode:   Trauma is the experience of a very stressful, frightening or distressing event that was or is difficult to cope with and beyond our control. It could be one incident, or an ongoing event that happens over a long period of time.   Putting a name to trauma has changed the way we think about what we have lived and endured – bringing to life the systemic generational patterns of living and reliving trauma episodes as a course of everyday life - not to mention the unforeseen life events that impact us deeply.   This episode is about healing. It is about recognizing the need for removing yourself from the conditions and situations that continue to evoke the experience of reliving trauma as well as its numerous physical, emotional, psychological and cognitive effects. If you or someone you know needs help to create a safe environment so that they can fully heal the past traumas they have suffered, please share this episode with them. It is a starting place to begin and it is a way to gauge your journey of healing.     I begin with a checklist. This is intended to give you viable ways in which you can soothe and heal the body and mind and to free yourself from the trauma experiences that you have lived.
