What's a Sharkeologist?

In this episode we chat with Jeff Grant, frontman of Seattle-based band Sharkeologist (and its lead guitarist, CBM Podcast co-host Aaron Stayman).  Sharkeologist is a hard rock band that weaves harsh guitars, cutting synths, huge beats, and a pop-rock hooks into songs that hit hard and get stuck in your head. Grammy-nominated guitarist, producer, and songwriter Thomm Jutz discusses his upcoming project with award-winning English guitarist Martin Simpson.  The album, Nothing But Green Willow: The Songs of Mary Sands and Jane Gentry, is comprised of ballads from English folklorist Cecil Sharp's 1916-1918 collection, English Folk Songs from the Southern Appalachians, particularly those tunes from singers Mary Sands and Jane Gentry.  On this album, Simpson and Jutz brought together a mix of roots artists from both sides of the pond—Sierra Hull, Angeline Morrison, Odessa Settles, Tim O’Brien, Tammy Rogers, Seth Lakeman, and more—to create an homage to the bridge from Appalachia to England and back, just as the songs of Sands and Gentry originally did.  The album is available September 29th on Topic Records.     Craft Brewed Music® The music discovery app that streams music for serious listeners - now included free and forever "in" the Music Discovery App Pint Glass (downloaded via QR printed on glass). http://www.craftbrewedmusic.com
