We return to the pinnacle of production values this Soul A:M Sunday as the main ingredients that have created dance music continues to define the gold standard into 1985.   Record stores became the  institutions for musical knowledge, Whilst bragging rights would sadly creep in certain individual DJs ego’s would not only vie for priority status! But act like they somehow owned the sole rights to play a record ? I never understood this as it was supposed to be about the music! Always.   The disc jockeys term faded into 80s Jocks morphed into DJs around 81/83 whilst also started to transition away from mailing lists being supplied directly from the record labels, over to experiencing the unboxing ceremonies in store witnessing the couriers delivered the imports right to the countertop fond memories indeed.   Popularity around Soul music would once again influence every institution reminiscent of the decade before. Like Disco from what we wore! Very light, Very bright garments representing good times, popular music term pop! Would incorporate the sounds of Soul. Top of the pops TOTPs Top Pop in Europe would update their productions to represent the Soul scene to reflect the Clubs and then something wonderful happened, Friday 6pm is Soul Train which would later rebrand into Solid Soul a channel 4 production that became the launchpad to so many UK artists..   This depiction of 1985 is but a personal depiction of my transformation into the vastly rewarding musical timeline, But thankfully for many of you! The year that I have always deemed Soul Music got it So-Right returns this week due to last week’s production was served to you not as a filler! Once demonised by the mainstream to stem the flow of disco’s growth the evolution of the dance continued to expand through all new Hi fidelity production values that will set the scene for Soul music to expand these newfound  values further. Within the craft of song writing, music production incorporating the urban beats from the streets, word smiths pencil in hand, Ready to capture the harsh realities by depicting their pasts. Night clubs had over-spilled in the UK into Disco pubs with punters eager to hear the latest sounds when the club DJs were in your high street or town, whilst in London’s Southbank Be boppers and fly girls with Lino in hand were eager to get down. The Record store became the hallowed turf, we hung out to buy the latest Street sounds and state-side imports like George Duke, Larry Wu & Tyrone Brunson’s the Smurf, Uk artists were established and that was nice as the Uk singles and LPs were sold at a cheaper price.
