Dr. Bradley Block welcomes Dr. Shin Ock, founder of Ezar Psychology, who focuses on providing therapy to high achievers, particularly physicians. They explore how intellectualization and goal-oriented training make behavior change harder for physicians, even though they know the right steps.

Dr. Ock emphasizes the importance of aligning behavior with personal values, as values guide long-term changes and provide more sustainable fulfillment than simply achieving goals. They also discuss the stigmas around seeking help in medical professions and how fostering openness to change can improve mental health and well-being.

BIO

Shin Ock, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and the founder of Ezar Psychology. With a background in academic health psychology, she provides actionable therapy to high achievers, particularly focusing on physician mental health.

Dr. Ock coined the term "exhausted exemplars" to describe the overburdened professionals she helps, offering them support to align their actions with their core values. She became committed to physician mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic, when she saw firsthand the immense challenges faced by healthcare providers.

Dr. Ock is passionate about reducing the stigma around seeking support and helping her clients thrive in both personal and professional spheres.
