You were loved by millions. Background on the case: Dr. Mark Chavez has pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to distribute ketamine in connection with the death of actor Matthew Perry. Chavez, a San Diego-based physician, was one of five individuals charged in the case. He admitted to illegally obtaining ketamine and transferring it to another doctor, Dr. Salvador Plasencia, who then sold it to Perry’s assistant. Perry died from the "acute effects of ketamine" in October 2023. Chavez now faces up to 10 years in prison. Other defendants in the case include Plasencia, who has pleaded not guilty, and Kenneth Iwamasa, Perry's assistant, who has also pleaded guilty. The case has raised significant attention due to the involvement of multiple medical professionals and Perry’s tragic death.
