Fall reading season is officially here, and this year, we're making it competitive. We're drafting our ultimate fall TBRs, one book at a time—but once a book is picked, it's off the board. Who will snag the books everyone wants, and who will be left with the leftovers? In today's episode, we're talking about our August Book Club pick, Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. Just kidding, we spend about six minutes talking about the book, and the rest of the episode is dedicated to ALL the ACOTAR release news for A Court of Splintered Harmony and A Court of Forgotten Melody! It finally feels like we're back in our reading groove, and we couldn't be more excited to spend the next two months theorizing, speculating, and counting down. This is the summer of random episodes, and this one is no different! Our July Book Club pick was The Poet Empress by Shen Tao, and we're so glad so many of you enjoyed it! Unfortunately, it didn't quite work for us. While we all agreed the writing was beautiful and poetic, the story itself fell flat.
