Carina: Born in Turkey, raised in Seoul and Shanghai, but German?

In this episode of Culturally, I'm joined by my longtime friend, Carina—a true citizen of the world. Born in Turkey and raised across Seoul and Shanghai, Carina is German by passport but has rarely stayed in one place for long. After growing up between continents, she went on to build her career across New York, London, and Berlin, cities that couldn't be more different from each other.We dive into what it's like to move between fundamentally different cultures before you're old enough to choose it, and then to keep moving by choice. We talk about the particular experience of carrying a national identity—German—that often surprises people given where she's actually lived, the quiet work of constantly adapting, and how all that movement shapes the way you see yourself and others. With a German last name and a rich heritage, Janine’s life is a journey through cultures, languages, and labels.
