In today’s episode of the Truth Wanted, Objectively Dan and J.L. Warren use their free will to talk about animal rights in horror films as UFOs continue to warrant the god of the gaps before attending funerals where relatives declare the deceased are in a league with satan.

Kit in NY turns Dan on by holding a position that free will should be protected at all costs. When you make a decision, is that decision informed by prior information gained in life? How do we protect free will? What is the difference between free will and personal autonomy? Even if free will does not exist, the legal system is still something that is a factor. The systems that exist are part of the preventative causes. Biology is also in play where people are born psychopaths and sociopaths. We need legislation to protect autonomy, but how this is implemented is up to the politicians.
Daniel in Canada asks if The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was making an animal rights statement with how the gore was illustrated. J.L. Warren describes his conversations with Tobe Hooper, the composer and producer of the film, and how animal rights was an allegory rather than the point of the movie. The example of Night of the Living Dead is used where racism can also be allegory with the shooting death at the ending.
Dan, also in Canada asks about well documented yet unexplained events such as the Shag Harbor UFO Incident. We must assume there is no connection with causal events to lead to better decisions. Human beings are pattern seeking monsters wanting to make connections out of everything. We must determine what information is reliable, and start with what we know. Are what people saw being interpreted correctly? Circumstantial evidence may be abundant, but still is not the smoking gun. What do you think about the difference between possibility and probability? There may be a joy in not knowing something, but be careful not to do the “god of the gaps” with aliens.
James in WI describes a funeral when the family exclaimed the person being interred was in league with the devil. Many of us are conditioned to be uncurious about the world by indoctrination where we grow up somewhere and just don’t explore other options. Once you get a few generations down the line, these things become cultural.
