Today on the podcast we’re talking about our micro marketing agency Bold Creative, which we ran from 2009 - 2016. It was started by accident. This is the story.

Becki talks about how working at a marketing company lead to burn out early in her career as a designer which ultimately lead to wanting to start her own business. We discuss the original business idea which was a streetwear company, which ultimately failed due to overthinking. We deep dive on the screen-printing studio side of our business and talk about the one big job that did us in.

Later we talk about the differences between working with clients as a freelancer, and working with brands as a creator. We break down the important lessons we learned from our 7 years running our marketing company, and how those lessons cross over to doing YouTube full-time.

Ep.25 Can You Grow A YouTube Channel With Vlogs?

    37:09

After watching some of our older videos we got inspired to discuss if it’s possible to grow a YouTube channel with just vlogs. We talk about the pros and cons of transitioning into vlogs on an established niche YouTube channel. We date ourselves as we talk about the olden days when Chris made his BMX videos on VHS tapes and sold them out of his backpack, but also chat about the challenges of making content during a time with no YouTube and no royalty free music platforms. We answer the question “when you start making videos, should you copy someone else or figure out your own style right away?” AND we bring in our new segment Open Mic!
