Robert Rhodes is the biggest ray of sunshine ever! Strap yourself in for a super conversation with someone who finds every bit of joy in life and doesn’t waste a second.

Robert is an actor (and dog groomer extraordinaire!) and a campaigner supporting both the Changing Faces and Face Equality International charities.

Robert opens up about his experiences as a child growing up in a world where he had a facial difference yet didn’t see it until it was pointed out to him!

He talks candidly about the negative representation on screen and the trend of almost all villains having either a scar, a burn scar or some level of facial difference, which sadly and shockingly became synonymous with evil and villainy.

When Robert was little, the film The Lion King had a profound impact on him as it appeared to reinforce to the world that ‘scars were evil’ (the character of Scar). Bond villain after Bond villain had facial disfigurements and for Robert he couldn’t understand why heroes didn’t have scars! They fight as much as the villains – too right!

Robert generously shares with me his thoughts on how we can help educate people, how to talk to and in particular, how to talk to children about facial differences.

Robert finds the joy in life and is super in tune with when he needs to own his boundaries, take in some nature and take a self care day!

Robert has the most supportive family and friends and growing up he was instilled with a sense confidence and overwhelming positivity which really shines through!

You are going to feel lifted, loved and a little bit wiser after this chat!

Thanks so much for your time Robert you busy bee!
