Strap yourselves in, this is a wild one! A little step away from a specific arts conversation to an inspirational story told by this wonderful woman, my old babysitter, Dilani Gaunt.

Dilani has worked as a social worker in Mental Health for 20 years and is now in the process of starting a new coaching business.

Dilani says so candidly “I have always thought that my brain was broken”. Dilani talks about her struggle throughout her life and how her brain worked differently to everyone else. She has always thought that she was just disorganised, a let-down to her friends, couldn’t keep to time, couldn’t get any jobs done, over thinking everything, which then led to a life of crippling levels of self-worth and years of anxiety and depression ………UNTIL, she realised that through no fault of her own she had never actually been diagnosed with ADHD. Suddenly Dilani’s life began to make sense for the first time in decades!

Dilani shares with us some very personal and heart-breaking family tragedies and the breakdown of her marriage, alongside the journey to understanding herself and how she could have been better supported had she known.

This episode was a privilege to listen to. I feel honoured that Dilani trusted me with her story. It’s not an easy listen at times but it is powerful, impactful and utterly awe inspiring!

Thank you Dilani! You will forever be my favourite babysitter!
