Episode 94 - Milan embarrassed at home by Sassuolo

Well that didn’t go to plan did it, it’s the debrief this week listeners following an absolute disasterclass from Pioli and Milan in the Champions League Semi Final this past week, torn to shreds by a rampant Inter side saw Milan embarrassed and on the verge of exiting the competition for this and next year’s campaign following poor results in Serie A over the past few weeks. Milan are into the Semi Finals of the Champions League where they are set to face Inter in a derby for the ages, Milan bested Napoli for the third time in 2 weeks to come through the quarter final tie with a fine away performance. Rafa Leao should his qualities on the biggest stage with a stunning assist in Europe followed up with 2 goals against Lecce in Serie A this weekend, hopefully this Leao can stick around until the end of the season and fire the Rossoner to Istanbul. Bennacer has Milan with an eye on the semi-finals of the Champions League after winning the first leg against Napoli at the San Siro. In another victory against the Scudetto elect Milan show they can still perform on the biggest stage. The second leg is only 6 days away and a clean sheet will see us qualify. A trip to Bologna is in between these fixtures and hopefully this winning attitude and stick around for a league game this time out. Milan demolished Napoli on their own turf this past week in the best performance of 2023. A result that would have surprised the most loyal of Milan fans has everyone looking upward again and hoping to repeat this success against Napoli again in the Champions League. Milan are into the quarterfinals of the Champions League for the first time in over a decade after a strong performance away from home against Spurs. The impregnatable defence unit kept an insipid Spurs team at bay to ensure Brahim Diaz goal form the first leg was the difference. Focus back on the league now as more dropped points last weekend means no more mistakes are allowed against Salernitana and Udinese if we want to be in the hat for the Champions League again next season. Victory in the Last 16 of the Champions League over Spurs this week puts Milan in the driving seat for the second league in around a months time. Another week another bruising defeat, Inter waltzed to victory over a Milan side scared of their own shadow on Sunday night in one of the poorest performances in recent memory.
