Afghan-born American filmmaker and human rights activist Sonia Nassery Cole sat down with HFPA journalist Patricia Danaher to discuss her latest project I Am You, which follows the story of three Afghan refugees who flee the Taliban to seek refuge in Europe. They also discuss her short documentary, The Bread Winner, her 2010 film The Black Tulip (which was Afghan’s Oscar Submission that year), childhood memories of Afghanistan, meeting President Ronald Reagan in the White House, the past, present, and future of Afghanistan, and much more.
