This week Megan Duffy was hired as the new head coach at Virginia Tech so we thought we'd replay her podcast episode from 2021. It's a couple of years old but you'll quickly see why she has won everywhere she's been and was just hired to lead one of the best women's basketball programs. She is a true leader and culture builder. Coaches of any sport at all levels should take away some nuggets from this episode.

ORIGINAL SHOW NOTES...

Today's guest on "The Coachable Coach" series is Megan Duffy, head women's basketball coach at Marquette University.

"The Coachable Coach" series on the Success is a Choice Podcast Network goes beyond the X's and O's as Jamy Bechler talks with some of the best sports coaches.

Jamy talks with coaches who value growth, improvement, and leadership – not just with their athletes but for themselves, as well. They believe that a strong culture doesn’t just happen by accident.

Good coaches may know the X’s and O’s, the tactics, and strategies that should lead to winning BUT great coaches know their athletes. Great coaches go beyond the X’s and O’s. Great coaches know how to inspire their athletes to do their best and maximize their chances for success.

Megan Duffy turned the program around at Miami of Ohio and has not lost a step moving into the Big East winning. She has won nearly 75% of her games in the two years she has been at Marquette. The successes she has had are not surprising because of her emphasis on a strong culture and developing strong leaders.
