Mercury is going retrograde on April 21, 2023 and will enter the shadow of its retrograde on April 7th. With the Moon in Cancer squaring Jupiter and Mercury in Aries, conjunct Chiron, at the moment of this recording - this message has found its way to you now. Although I had planned on posting this podcast on Monday, this is when the due date arrived. I find that fitting as Mercury Retrograde tends to slow down communications. My notion of communication, commitments, and agreements has been under review these last few days.  I am really looking forward to the cosmic stir of the retrograde. Whole sign chart reading is approximately 3000 years old and originates during the Hellenistic tradition around 1000 BCE. It is known as the oldest form of house division and the predominant form of house division for the first 700 years of the practice of western astrology. It was lost in the Middle Ages and only for about the last 20-30 years, starting in the 1980s and 1990s, it was recovered through chart reading transitions of some of the world’s most ancient texts. We use this housing system because it is the most ancient, the most simple, and is used with specific chart reading techniques we will be covering later in this course. In this system, the 12 houses all have 30 degrees and coincide with the 12 signs of the zodiac. Since this is the original form of chart division, it is best to start with this system and then layer on other kinds of chart division on top to find more nuanced significations. The Rising Sign is the sign that symbolizes the energy of the time of the day and season you were born. The sign that rules over that specific time holds the frequency. We use whole signs to holistically tune into the vibration given off in the four corners of the horizon and all the spaces in between at the time of birth to understand the bigger picture of who you are. Working with the degree of the ASC, IC, DSC, and MC can be extremely helpful for narrowing in on the details which we will get into later on in this course. This is the (first) of (two) New Moons in the sign of Aries in 2023. The first is on 3/21/23 at 1:23 PM EST at 00° 49' of Aries. The second is a SOLAR ECLIPSE in Aries on 4/20/23 at 12:12 AM EST at 29° 50' of Aries. This means we have two lunation cycles to set intentions aligned with the spirit of the warrior archetype at different stages of the game. Rulers of this Cycle Mars - by domicile - by Decan - Mar is in the sign of Gemini since 08/2022 and FINALLY out of the shadow of his Retrograde which started on 10/2022. On 3/25, Mars will enter Cancer! Lean into taking action on the thing you've been thinking about for the last 6 months!
