One of the most sought after Personal Trainers in the world joins me today, for this week’s podcast episode. Luke Worthington is a qualified sports scientist, trainer, nutritionist and strength & conditioning specialist with over 20 years’ experience in the health and fitness industry.
Whilst you may know of Luke, you may know very little about who he is and his journey into how he became one of the experts within the industry. Today he shares what life was like growing up in the north, the early days of the fitness industry and how his journey started. We tap into his expertise, the common mistakes he sees and his advice if you’re starting out in the fitness world.
And it is the OPEN UP podcast, meaning we get into the downsides of running a business, the impact a thriving career has had on Luke’s personal life and some of his long standing beliefs that he’s reframed to give him the life he really wanted. Luke reflects on understanding what works for him and not moulding himself into other people’s expectations.
He currently works with private clients and holds a consulting role with Nike. Holding additional qualifications in neuroscience, biomechanics and sports massage therapy, Luke's philosophy on fitness is that it consists of five key pillars:Strength, Aerobic Fitness, Mobility, BodyComposition and Emotional Wellbeing. He utilises his diverse knowledge to train and educate his clients on all five, as well as how they are all interconnected.
A trusted advisor and voice of authority in the fitness landscape, Luke aims to not only train his clients but also educate them on their wellbeing. Luke is regularly featured in a wide range of press including British Vogue, Men’s Health,Women’s Health, London’s Evening Standard and The Daily Telegraph.
In addition to his personal training work, Luke has a number of altruistic ambitions both to elevate and enhance standards within the health and fitness industry, and to improve the quality and accessibility of health and fitness information to all. Luke hopes to achieve this through his series of professional educational courses and seminars in the UK, USA and around Europe, a grassroots education program through the YMCA, and through providing accurate, usable and accessible information through media channels. Luke appeared in the BAFTA nominated ITV series Harry's Heroes, and his personal training work features a roster of high-profile clients.
