On today's episode of How'd She Do That?, host Emily Landers welcomes Kate Stice Stewart, Founder of Bauble Stockings onto the podcast!  Growing up, Kate's mom always received the last gift of Christmas as a thank you for all she'd done that year, and it, or a clue to it, was found in her needlepoint stocking that hung on their tree. Kate's dad called it her "Bauble Stocking" because on a good year it was a bauble, a piece of jewelry. The tradition of brainstorming for this gift with Kate's dad and older brothers was always her favorite part of Christmas and seeing her mom's face was an added bonus! Once engaged to be married, Kate asked her now-husband, Peter, "So when do I get my Bauble Stocking?" and he said, "Your what?" From that point on Kate knew she had a task ahead of her - sharing the tradition of Bauble Stockings with the world!  Each stocking is 100% hand-stitched and finished. In 2018, Bauble Stockings moved their production to a community of single moms in Haiti with the organization, Good Threads Needlepoint. The community has built a school for over 120 children, many of whom will be the first person in their family to be able to complete high school. It is an honor to be able to provide good jobs in a country where jobs are hard to come by. Kate's passion for her growing business, working hard, and love for others is obvious throughout our conversation - one we know you'll enjoy hearing and you will definitely want to share with a friend!
