- History of distillery- Bruichladdich distillery
- First opened in 1881 by the Harvey brothers, William, John and Robert
- The Harvey Family owned 2 glasgow distilleries already
- State of the art. Other Islay distilleries came from farms, this one is built of stone.
- Used tall narrow necked stills, the opposite of the traditional
- William was the only one to run it after a fight with his brothers, until 1933 after a fire, then william died in 1936
- Then owned by Associated Scottish Distilleries
- 1969 sold to invergordon distillers
- bought by Whyte and Mackay and in 1994 shut down for âSurplus to requirements
- on the shore of Loch Indaal, on the Rinns of Islay, the westernmost part of the island.
- Re-opened their doors in 2001
- Bought by Mark Reynier of Murray McDavid on 19 December 2000.

- Big on environmental causes
- 2020 became the first scotch and gin distillery in europe to become B Corp certified- meaning they prove a positive impact on the environment
- Uses local barley and believes in staying local for everything
