The second edition of our travel show, Strike Mission, is in the books! In this conversation, Henry interviews Katie Craig, a women's golfer from Western Kentucky University who is currently participating in Q School. They discuss Katie's experience at Q School, her path to and through college golf, her interest in golf course architecture, and her future plans in the industry. Katie shares her favorite golf courses she has played, including Lost Key and Bel Air Country Club, and expresses her desire to design her own course in the future. She also mentions her dream of playing the Old Course at St. Andrews in Scotland. Katie is currently participating in Q School and is aiming to gain experience at the professional level while also pursuing her education. Definitely getting way out ahead of this one, but I hope you all enjoy this conversation as much as we did thinking through it. It's one thing to predict major champions a season in advance or even ryder cuppers a couple years out, but ot predict players in 4 years to be on an Olympic team is quite the task. Mac Todd was a high level junior and collegiate golfer who, as you'll learn in this conversation, lost his passion for his own golf game multiple times across his career yet never lost interest in helping others improve their games. From teaching at ranges, clubs, and golf performance stores, Mac has been in the golf performance space for a long time, all building to the current day version of Urban Golf Performance. First time in a while we are leaning into a fully culture centered MBM, but here we are. A user submission episode, today we're talking about the different players needed on an ideal guys golf trip. We have officially returned with House Theory Thursday! It's been some time, but we are here to hash out another one. With Walker in Traverse City for the summer, Crystal Downs is a golf course he has been laying eyes and bogeys on frequently so we are using that as a chance to return to HTT and compare it to another (fringe) Mackenzie in Cal Club. Many think Crystal Downs is a top 20 course in the country. Many think Cal Club is rather underrated being just within the top 50. Is that enough for it to perhaps challenge CD? Tune in to fine out!
