"Kink Con Cancelled!" (Oh NO!) - A Rambling Diatribe About Community Building, Showing Grace, and Standing Up To Oppression
Hey all! And welcome to another episode of The Neurodivergent Polyamorist Podcast! Now, some of you may recall (from our social media posts and prior episode mentions) that this weekend was supposed to mark our appearance at the Midnight at Dawn Kink Convention in Sudbury, Ontario. Unfortunately, the event was cancelled. But Becca and I decided - hey now, why let that stop us? So we wrangled in friend of the podcast and fellow con exhibitor Laura from Alex Deviant Creations and decided to try to simulate the kind of shit-shooting conversations we would have likely had as booth neighbours at the actual convention. What followed was a robust chat where we discussed everything from the importance of community building, to when to give grace when people mess up on our queer identities, vs when to tell them where to go. (Spoiler: it comes down to whether or not they're genuinely trying in good faith and if they're open to learning better/doing better, though of course your mileage may vary).
So if that sounds like your cup of tea (or coffee...hell, even energy drinks for those of you among us who are feral gremlins), then put those headphones on, sit back, relax, and join us!
