Professor Makinda is Professor Emeritus of International Relations & Security Studies at the College of Law and Arts and Social Sciences at Murdoch University, Western Australia.
He was earlier a senior journalist with the weekly review and the nation group of the newspapers in Nairobi, and he has been recognized and awarded by former Kenyan President Mogwai Kibaki as the one of the elders of the order of the Burning Spear.
