Harrison Okene, a Nigerian ship's cook, faced a remarkable ordeal of survival. In May 2013, he was trapped in an underwater vessel, the Jascon 4, for an astonishing 60 hours before being miraculously rescued. The tugboat had capsized and sunk off the coast of Nigeria while supporting an oil platform. Okene found himself within an air pocket in the upturned hull of the ship as it rapidly sank. Struggling against panic, he clung to hope as water submerged the vessel completely. Surviving on Coca-Cola and biscuits, he endured darkness, cold, and the constant threat of drowning. With no means of communication, he remained alone in the depths, unsure if rescue would ever come. Meanwhile, a Dutch underwater rescue team, sent to recover bodies, descended to the wreck site. Against all odds, one diver, Nico van Heerden, discovered Okene alive inside the sunken vessel. Okene, disoriented and frightened, initially mistook the diver for a sea creature. Guided by the diver's light, he swam towards safety, rescued from the depths. Okene's survival story captured global attention, hailed as a miraculous testament to the human spirit. It shed light on the hazards faced by offshore workers and emphasised the importance of stringent safety measures. His extraordinary tale of endurance and resilience serves as an inspiration, reminding us of the unwavering will to survive, even in the most perilous circumstances. Imagine sitting at your desk at work, a day like any other. All of a sudden you hear a rumbling that gets louder, and louder. Then you look out the window and see it: a massive tank (yes - TANK), covered in guns, coming straight towards your office. You get outside just in time to see this thing completely flatten your building to the ground, then drive away. Um… WHAT? That’s exactly what happened in 2004 to the people in Granby, Colorado. Marvin Heemeyer, a local man, was angry at most people in town about a bunch of different nonsense, so he decided to take revenge by spending more than a year modifying a bulldozer into a weaponised war-like tank, which he then drove all over town for several hours destroying everything in his wake. As you do. Local businesses, the town hall, the library, even the police station - all flattened by the Killdozer. And because this thing was indestructible (bullet-proof, bomb-proof, unbreakable steel), there was nothing the police could do, but watch helplessly and hope something - anything - would stop it. It literally got to the point where the army considered dropping a bomb on it so strong it would also destroy the entire town. So what stopped the Killdozer in the end? It's Just The Gist  - "F*cking White People" Edition; The story of the 1981 film ROAR. A tale of how a rich naive Hollywood couple spent over a decade making a movie that starred them, their kids and 150 lions, tigers, leopards, panthers, ALLL the big cats. The movie was pitched as a "family comedy", but is widely regarded as one of the most dangerous films of all time. Roar starred Tippy Hedron (Star of Hitchcock's The Birds and others) her daughter Melanie Griffiths, and the rest of their family. The plot is broadly "we can save the world/animal kingdom/lions and tigers etc are all big friendly besties who just are misunderstood and we can live with them in harmony". Sounds cute in theory, maybe in adorable cartoons, but filming with 150 big cats gives very different results. Turns out, big cats gunna big cat; the films credits say no animals were harmed in the making of the movie (lies lol), but they don't say anything about how many PEOPLE were mauled, scalped, attacked, and generally not treated as one would hope to be treated at work.
