Derrick Brooks was a first round draft pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1995. Brooks played 14 seasons as a linebacker for the Bucs and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014. I met Derrick at his Celebrity Golf Classic Tournament which raised funds for his charity. The Derrick Brooks Charities, Inc. has a mission to provide education, development, and vision to youth who face socio-economic challenges. Not only do they remind them of their hope and future, but they provide them the right resources to ensure a better tomorrow. Derrick Brooks was challenged by coaches like Bobby Bowden, during his FSU days, and Tony Dungy to look outside of football for purpose. Derrick reminds us that life should be lived for others and to pray over our plans for better success. Derrick Brooks shines in everything he does, and I am honored he came on Write it Down!
