The gals are back after a dizzying first week of NFL football. First, an update on Madeline’s first RedZone experience, a hello to RedZone host Scott Hanson, and checking in on Charlotte’s Patriots (bad). Tom Brady is online again, posting very 2016 selfies, and it’s great. Nebraska’s Dylan Raiola continues to emulate the Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes. The US Open concluded this weekend! Aryna Sabalenka beat Amanda Anisimova to take the women’s title, and Carlos Alcaraz beat his rival, Jannik Sinner. Sinner and Alcaraz are adorable. The gals then check in on how their “vibes-based” NFL predictions did, before getting into the messiness of the NFL’s Week 1: Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy saved Minnesota, Madeline’s Bills mounted the most incredible comeback over the Ravens, the gals went to the Eagles-Cowboys game (where Spitgate occurred), the Chiefs lost in Brazil, and Aaron Rodgers *does* hate the Jets. UNC head coach Bill Belichick banned Patriots scouts from the UNC facilities and is using the public university for his own petty agenda. Well, folks, it finally happened — Bill Belichick took the field to coach UNC’s football team for the first time. After months of build-up and hype (especially surrounding his relationship with Jordon Hudson, who cold-called the gals out of the blue last month), his team lost 48-14. The TCU Horned Frogs demolished UNC, and the announcers ran out of stuff to talk about — to the point that ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit put his headset on his dog. Madeline and Charlotte have many thoughts about how Belichick is handling the young people he’s responsible for. There were many celebs in attendance, including NBA legend Michael Jordan, Former UNC basketball coach Roy Williams, NFL greats Lawrence Taylor, Julius Peppers, and Randy Moss, and country singers Eric Church and Chase Rice. There were many wild fan-made signs, the pre-game show felt like a living funeral, and the season couldn’t have gotten off to a rougher start! The gals then dive into some US Open drama, including the fact that Naomi Osaka beat Coco Gauff, and actor Rami Malek talked to Condé Nast godmother Anna Wintour for three straight matches. Madeline and Charlotte are thrilled to welcome a guest that they’ve been wanting to have on the show for a LONG time — Jessica Smetana! Jess is a sports commentator and analyst. She currently hosts The Echos podcast with Mike Golic Jr., and you may have seen her on Vice TV’s Sports Gone Wrong or on a Meadowlark Media property. Jess and Charlotte have also been friends and colleagues for almost 10 years, and used to host The Most Valuable Podcast together (RIP). The gals covered a lot of ground together for this college football preview. Also, Serena Williams introduced Maria Sharapova at her Tennis Hall of Fame induction. In other country club news, Tommy Fleetwood finally won a golf major in his 164th start! And the gals learned all about his family and age-gap relationship. And in *more* country club-esq news, Bill Belichick is selling a house on Nantucket that is probably a bad investment and you shouldn’t buy it. Also: Tom Brady is online again, Shilo Sanders was ejected from a preseason game after he punched someone and then was waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Micah Parsons Cowboy’s drama over his contract with the Cowboys persists, and Paige Bueckers had an amazing 44-point night.
