Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network providing 24/7 mental health crisis services

Detroit's Palmer Park has seen many improvements over the years, from renovated tennis and pickleball courts and a new dog park to a variety of habitat restoration projects. Now work is underway to maintain the park's 70 acres of old-growth forest. To discuss those efforts, we're joined by People for Palmer Park President Stacy Varner, and Bobbi Westerby — whose company is leading the restoration work. Detroit was ranked the third worst U.S. city to live in for people with asthma in a new report published by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. The Soul of Philanthropy Michigan (TSOP) is offering 10 microgrants totaling more than $15,000 to nonprofit groups and block clubs in the metro Detroit area. Today on "The Metro," TSOP Michigan Steering Committee Chair Nikia Washington joins the show along with a microgrant recipient to discuss the program. Also on the show, Vice President of the Virginia Park Block Club Jody Wise discusses the reconstruction of the block's historic brick-paved street.

A new documentary from the ESPN series E:60 called “28 Outs: An Imperfect Story,” is revisiting former Detroit Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga’s near-perfect game. We revisit the moment with Tigers staff writer for The Athletic Cody Stavenhagen and University of New Mexico Professor Larry Jones, who taught a Law and Society class that studied the game.
